Kiowa County is a county located in Kansas, in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 3278 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2541, giving it the 11th smallest population among Kansas's county. It covers total area of 722.62 sq mi (1871.58 square kilometre), of which, 722.39 square miles (1870.98 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.23 square miles (0.6 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 57th largest by total area among Kansas's county.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 3278 people, 1365 households, and 924 families living in the county. The population density was 4.5 people per square mile (1.74/kmē), making it the 21st least densely populated county in Kansas. There were 1643 housing units at an average density of 2.3 per square mile (0.89/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.32 persons, and the average family size was 2.89 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 24% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 21.8% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 21.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.1 males. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 2541, The racial makeup of the county was 97.6% White, 0.35% Black or African American, 0.98% American Indian, 0.35% Asian, 0% Native Hawaiian, and 0.71% from two or more races.
