Kiowa County is a one of the county from Colorado's 63 counties, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Kiowa County is home to 1622 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 1321, It is the third smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Colorado. Its area is just over 1785.76 sq mi (4625.1 square kilometre), of which, 1770.99 square miles (4586.84 square kilometre) of it is land and 14.76 square miles (38.23 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 24th largest by total area in Colorado. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Colorado.

The population density was 0.9 people per square mile (0.35/kmē), giving it the third least densely populated county among the Colorado. There were 817 housing units at an average density of 0.5 per square mile (0.19/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.4 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.9% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 24.6% from 45 to 64, and 17.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.4 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 1321, The racial makeup of the county was 1281 White, 8 Black or African American, 22 American Indian, 2 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 7 from two or more races.
