King County, Washington is a county of the United States of Washington. It is home to over 1737034 people (2000 census). Its population was estimated at 1875519 in July 2008, It is the largest county by population in the U.S. state of Washington. The county encompasses an area of 2306.53 miē (5973.89 kmē ), of which, 2126.04 square miles (5506.42 kmē) of it is land and 180.48 square miles (467.44 kmē) of it is water, making it the 11th largest by size in Washington. It is ranks ninth in the size of its inland waterways in Washington.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1737034 people, 710916 households, and 419959 families living in the county. The population density was 817 people per square mile (315.45/kmē), it is Washington's most densely populated county. There were 742237 housing units at an average density of 349.1 per square mile (134.79/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.39 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 22.5% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 34.7% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 10.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1875519, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 1412973 White, 116967 Black or African American, 18221 American Indian, 251811 Asian, 11876 Native Hawaiian, and 63671 from two or more races.
