Keya Paha County is one of the 93 county of Nebraska, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. Keya Paha County had an official population of 983 in 2000. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 836, It is Nebraska's 11th least populous county. The county comprises an area of 774.17 sq mi (2005.09 kmē), of which, 773.29 square miles (2002.81 kmē) of it is land and 0.89 square miles (2.31 kmē) of it is water, it is the 28th largest by area in the U.S. state of Nebraska.

The population density was 1.3 people per square mile (0.5/kmē), giving it the 12th least densely populated county among the Nebraska. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 23.8% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 23.4% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 20.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101.9 males.
