Key West City is a one of the Monroe County, Florida, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 25478. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 22364, It is the 105th most populous in the U.S. state of Florida. The city has a total area of 7.4 square miles (19.17 kmē), of which, 5.95 square miles (15.41 kmē) of it is land and 1.46 square miles (3.78 kmē) of it is water, making it the 245th largest by size in Florida.

As of the census of 2000, there were 25478 people in the city, organized into 11016 households, and 5469 families residing in the city. The population density was 4285 people per square mile (1654.45/kmē), making its Florida's 166th most densely populated city. There were 13306 housing units at an average density of 2236.3 per square mile (863.44/kmē). The average household size was 2.23 people, and the average family size was 2.84 people. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 84.94% White, 9.28% Black or African American, 0.39% American Indian, 1.29% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, 2.18% from two or more races and 1.86% Other races.
