Keweenaw County is a United States county located in the United States of Michigan. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 2301 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 2202, It is the smallest in terms of population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 5965.96 miē (15451.77 kmē), of which, 540.97 square miles (1401.11 kmē) of it is land and 5424.98 square miles (14050.63 kmē) of it is water, it is the largest by area in the U.S. state of Michigan. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in Michigan.

The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2202, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 2130 White, 46 Black or African American, 3 American Indian, 2 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 21 from two or more races.
