Kewaunee County is one of the 72 county of Wisconsin, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. Kewaunee County had an official population of 20187 in 2000. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 20388, It is 23rd least populous county in Wisconsin. It has total area of 1084.52 mi˛ (2808.89 sq km), of which, 342.64 square miles (887.43 sq km) of it is land and 741.89 square miles (1921.49 sq km) of it is water, making it Wisconsin's 18th largest county by total area. It is ranks seventh in the size of its inland waterways in Wisconsin.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 20187 people, 7623 households, and 5548 families living in the county. The population density was 58.9 people per square mile (22.74/km˛), giving it the 29th most densely populated county among the Wisconsin. There were 8221 housing units at an average density of 24 per square mile (9.27/km˛). The average household size was 2.61 persons, and the average family size was 3.1 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.8% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 28.2% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 99.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 101.3 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 20388, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 20053 White, 65 Black or African American, 69 American Indian, 52 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 148 from two or more races.
