Ketchikan Gateway Borough, Alaska is a borough located in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. As per the 2000 census, borough has a population of 14070 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 13142, It is seventh most populous borough in Alaska. The borough encompasses an area of 1753.98 mi˛ (4542.79 square kilometre ), of which, 1233.22 square miles (3194.03 square kilometre) of it is land and 520.75 square miles (1348.74 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the second smallest by size in Alaska.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 14070 people, 5399 households, and 3634 families residing in the borough. The population density was 11.4 people per square mile (4.4/km˛), it is the second most populated borough in terms of population density. There were 6218 housing units at an average density of 5 per square mile (1.93/km˛). The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.1. In the borough Age distribution was 28.2% under the age of 18, 7.5% from 18 to 24, 31.4% from 25 to 44, 25.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 95.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 95 females. The July 2008 population estimate is 13142, The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 9468 White, 127 Black or African American, 2059 American Indian, 698 Asian, 23 Native Hawaiian, and 767 from two or more races.
