Keokuk County is a one of the county from Iowa's 99 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 11400 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 10697 in July 2008, It is 27th least populous county in Iowa. It has total area of 579.94 mi˛ (1502.04 sq km), of which, 579.19 square miles (1500.1 sq km) of it is land and 0.75 square miles (1.94 sq km) of it is water, it is the 34th largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

The population density was 19.7 people per square mile (7.61/km˛), it is 22nd least densely populated county in Iowa. There were 5013 housing units at an average density of 8.7 per square mile (3.36/km˛). The average household size was 2.45 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 25.7% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 20.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 91.8 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 10697, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 10589 White, 17 Black or African American, 15 American Indian, 28 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 46 from two or more races.
