Kent County is a county located in the United States of Rhode Island. It is home to over 167090 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 168058, giving it the second largest population among Rhode Island's county. It covers total area of 188.1 miē (487.18 kmē), of which, 170.17 square miles (440.74 kmē) of it is land and 17.92 square miles (46.41 kmē) of it is water, making it Rhode Island's fourth largest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 167090 people in the county, organized into 67320 households, and 44964 families living in the county. The population density was 981.9 people per square mile (379.11/kmē), making it the third most densely populated county in Rhode Island. There were 70365 housing units at an average density of 413.5 per square mile (159.65/kmē). The average household size was 2.45 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 23.2% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 30.5% from 25 to 44, 24.2% from 45 to 64, and 15.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 88.7 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 168058, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 94.8% White, 1.67% Black or African American, 0.29% American Indian, 1.97% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.25% from two or more races.
