Kent County is a county located in the United States of Michigan. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Kent County is home to 574335 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 605213 in July 2008, It is the fourth largest county by population in the U.S. state of Michigan. Its area is just over 872.18 sq mi (2258.94 kmē), of which, 856.17 square miles (2217.47 kmē) of it is land and 16.01 square miles (41.47 kmē) of it is water, making it Michigan's 35th largest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 574335 people, 212890 households, and 144123 families residing in the county. The population density was 670.8 people per square mile (259/kmē), it would be the fifth most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Michigan. There were 224000 housing units at an average density of 261.6 per square mile (101/kmē). The average household size was 2.64 persons, and the average family size was 3.2 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 28.3% under the age of 18, 10.5% from 18 to 24, 31.2% from 25 to 44, 19.7% from 45 to 64, and 10.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.9 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.7 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 605213, The racial makeup of the county was 86.23% White, 9.33% Black or African American, 0.53% American Indian, 2.12% Asian, 0.1% Native Hawaiian, and 1.69% from two or more races.
