Kennebec County is one of the 16 county of Maine, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 117114 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 120959, making it Maine's fourth largest county. The county spans an area of 951.18 sq mi (2463.54 kmē), of which, 867.58 square miles (2247.02 kmē) of it is land and 83.6 square miles (216.52 kmē) of it is water, making it Maine's fifth smallest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 117114 people in the county, organized into 47683 households, and 31328 families residing in the county. The population density was 135 people per square mile (52.12/kmē), giving it the fifth most densely populated county among the Maine. There were 56364 housing units at an average density of 65 per square mile (25.1/kmē). The average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.89 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 23.8% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 94 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.8 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 120959, The racial makeup of the county was 97.15% White, 0.61% Black or African American, 0.45% American Indian, 0.69% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.08% from two or more races.
