Kenai City, Alaska

Kenai City is a city located in Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 6942 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 7742, making it the eighth most populous in Alaska. The city comprises an area of 35.53 sq mi (92.02 square kilometre), of which, 29.9 square miles (77.44 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.63 square miles (14.58 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 151st largest by size in Alaska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6942 people in the city, organized into 2622 households, and 1787 families living in the city. The population density was 232.2 people per square mile (89.65/kmē), it is the 34th most populated city in terms of population density. There were 3003 housing units at an average density of 100.4 per square mile (38.76/kmē). The average household size was 2.64 and the average family size was 3.2. In the city the population was distributed as follows: 32.8% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 31.3% from 25 to 44, 21.8% from 45 to 64, and 6.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.6 males. The median age is 32.3 years, The median age of males and females living in Kenai City was 32.3 and 32.4 years respectively. The racial makeup of the city was 5745 White, 34 Black or African American, 607 American Indian, 115 Asian, 16 Native Hawaiian, 347 from two or more races and 78 Ohter races.
