Kearny Town, Hudson County, New Jersey is a town located in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. Kearny Town had an official population of 40513 in 2000. Its population was estimated at 36746 in July 2008, giving it the 27th largest population among New Jersey. The town extends throughout a territory of 10.19 mi˛ (26.39 square kilometre ), of which, 9.14 square miles (23.67 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.05 square miles (2.72 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the 37th largest by total area among New Jersey.

As of the census of 2000, there were 40513 residents, 457 households, and 284 families in the town. In the town the population is diverse age-wise, with 21.5% under the age of 18, 10.7% from 18 to 24, 35.7% from 25 to 44, 21.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 106.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 107 males.
