The borough comprises an area of 16.83 miē (43.59 kmē), of which, 1.08 square miles (2.8 kmē) of it is land and 15.75 square miles (40.79 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 16th largest by total area among New Jersey. It is ranks first in the size of its inland waterways in New Jersey.
