Kauai County is a county located in Hawaii, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. Kauai County had an official population of 58463 in 2000. The July 2008 population estimate is 63689, It is Hawaii's fourth most populous county. The county spans an area of 1266.37 square miles (3279.88 kmē), of which, 622.44 square miles (1612.11 kmē) of it is land and 643.93 square miles (1667.77 kmē) of it is water, making it Hawaii's fourth largest county by total area. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Hawaii.

The population's age distribution was 26.4% under the age of 18, 7.1% from 18 to 24, 27.2% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.5 males.
