Kansas, is a state located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 2688418. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the state is 2802134, It is 32nd most populous in United States. It is spread over 82276.84 sq mi (213096.04 kmē), of which, 81814.88 square miles (211899.57 kmē ) of it is land and 461.96 square miles (1196.47 kmē) of it is water, it is the 15th largest by area in the U.S. state of America.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2688418 people in the state, organized into 1037891 households, and 701547 families living in the state. The population density was 32.9 people per square mile (12.7/kmē), it is the 11th least densely populated state in the U.S. state of America. There were 1131200 housing units at an average density of 13.8 per square mile (5.33/kmē). The average household size was 2.51 and the average family size was 3.07. In the state Age distribution was 26.5% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 21.4% from 45 to 64, and 13.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95 males. The median age is 35.2 years, the median age of male residents at 33.7 and the median age of female residents at 36.5. The July 2008 population estimate is 2688418, The racial or ethnic makeup of the state was 2313944 White, 154198 Black or African American, 24936 American Indian, 46806 Asian, 1313 Native Hawaiian, 56496 from two or more races and 90725 Ohter races.
