For every 100 females there were 97.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95 males. The median age is 35.2 years, the median age of male residents at 33.7 and the median age of female residents at 36.5. The July 2008 population estimate is 2688418, The racial or ethnic makeup of the state was 2313944 White, 154198 Black or African American, 24936 American Indian, 46806 Asian, 1313 Native Hawaiian, 56496 from two or more races and 90725 Ohter races.

The median income for a family in the state was $49624, making it the 23rd wealthiest state by median family income among the United States. The per capita income for the state was $20506, making it the 26th highest state by per capita income in United States. The median income of state was $22149, Males had a median income of $27864 versus $17107 for females. The Bureau of Economic Analysis estimates that the total GDP in 2008 was $122.7 billion, making its United States's 32nd highest state by GDP. Per capita personal income in 2008 was $35013.
In 2000, 756960 pupils and students, of which 50.43% are male and 49.57% are female, 28.16% of the total population, are in the education system. Of which, percentage of enrollment student are in, 6.78% nursery or pri school, 5.16% kindergarten, 43.01% elementary school, 21.74% high school and 23.31% College graduate school.
