Kankakee County is a one of the county from Illinois's 102 counties, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 103833 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 112524, making it the 16th most populous county in Illinois. The county extends throughout a territory of 681.44 square miles (1764.92 square kilometre ), of which, 676.75 square miles (1752.77 square kilometre) of it is land and 4.7 square miles (12.17 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 28th largest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.

Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 112524, The racial makeup of the county was 93242 White, 16570 Black or African American, 231 American Indian, 1001 Asian, 24 Native Hawaiian, and 1456 from two or more races.
