Kankakee City is a one of the Kankakee County, Illinois, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 27491 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 26710, making it the 73rd most populous in Illinois. It covers total area of 12.75 mi˛ (33.02 sq km), of which, 12.27 square miles (31.78 sq km) of it is land and 0.48 square miles (1.24 sq km) of it is water, making it the 49th largest by size in Illinois.
