Kane County is one of the 29 county of Utah, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The population of the county was 6046 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 6577 in July 2008, giving it the seventh smallest population among Utah's county. It has total area of 4108.42 mi˛ (10640.76 sq km), of which, 3991.96 square miles (10339.13 sq km) of it is land and 116.46 square miles (301.63 sq km) of it is water, making it Utah's eighth largest county by total area. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in Utah.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 6046 people, 2237 households, and 1629 families residing in the county. The population density was 1.5 people per square mile (0.58/km˛), it would be the fourth least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Utah. There were 3767 housing units at an average density of 0.9 per square mile (0.35/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.67 persons, and the average family size was 3.21 persons. In the Kane County, 29.4% of the population was under the age of 18, 6.8% were 18 to 24, 21.2% were 25 to 44, 25.9% were 45 to 64, and 16.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.1 males. Its population was estimated at 6577 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.67% White, 0.21% Black or African American, 2.43% American Indian, 0.26% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.38% from two or more races.
