Kandiyohi County, Minnesota is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 41203 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 40679, It is the 23rd largest in terms of population. The county comprises an area of 861.97 mi˛ (2232.49 square kilometre), of which, 796.06 square miles (2061.79 square kilometre) of it is land and 65.92 square miles (170.73 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 29th largest by area in the U.S. state of Minnesota.

The population density was 51.8 people per square mile (20/km˛), making it the 25th most densely populated county in Minnesota. In the county the population was spread out, with 26.6% under the age of 18, 9.5% from 18 to 24, 26.5% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 14.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.9 males. Its population was estimated at 40679 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 39633 White, 414 Black or African American, 199 American Indian, 180 Asian, 31 Native Hawaiian, and 222 from two or more races.
