Kanawha County, West Virginia is a county of the United States of West Virginia. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 200073 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 191018, It is the largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 910.99 square miles (2359.45 kmē), of which, 903.1 square miles (2339.02 kmē) of it is land and 7.89 square miles (20.44 kmē) of it is water, making it the fourth largest by size in West Virginia. It is ranks third in the size of its inland waterways in West Virginia.

The population density was 221.5 people per square mile (85.52/kmē), it is eighth most densely populated county in West Virginia. For every 100 males there were 110.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 114.8 females.
