Juneau City And Borough is a borough in the United States of Alaska. The population of borough in 2000 stood at 30711 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 30988, It is the fifth largest in terms of population. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the borough has a total area of 3255.01 sq mi (8430.44 kmē), of which, 2716.67 square miles (7036.14 kmē) of it is land and 538.34 square miles (1394.29 kmē) of it is water, it is the fifth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Alaska.

As of the census of 2000, there were 30711 people, 11543 households, and 7638 families living in the independent city. The population density was 11.3 people per square mile (4.36/kmē), it is the third most densely populated independent city in the U.S. state of Alaska. There were 12282 housing units at an average density of 4.5 per square mile (1.74/kmē). The average household size was 2.6 persons, and the average family size was 3.1 persons. In the independent city the population was distributed as follows: 27.4% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 6.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 101.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 100.2 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 30988, The racial or ethnic makeup of the independent city was 74% White, 1.26% Black or African American, 12.5% American Indian, 5.16% Asian, 0.44% Native Hawaiian, and 6.65% from two or more races.
