Jones County, Mississippi is a county located in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. Jones County had an official population of 64958 in 2000. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 67198, making it Mississippi's tenth largest county. The county encompasses an area of 699.73 sq mi (1812.29 square kilometre ), of which, 693.82 square miles (1796.99 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.91 square miles (15.31 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 23rd largest by size in Mississippi.

The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 67198, The racial makeup of the county was 47790 White, 18356 Black or African American, 334 American Indian, 281 Asian, 11 Native Hawaiian, and 426 from two or more races.
