Johnston County is a United States county located in the United States of Oklahoma. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 10513 inhabitants. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 10286, making it the 19th least populous county in Oklahoma. It covers total area of 658.29 sq mi (1704.96 square kilometre), of which, 644.5 square miles (1669.25 square kilometre) of it is land and 13.78 square miles (35.69 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Oklahoma's 20th smallest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 10513 people in the county, organized into 4057 households, and 2899 families living in the county. The population density was 16.3 people per square mile (6.29/kmē), it would be the 51st most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. There were 4782 housing units at an average density of 7.4 per square mile (2.86/kmē). The average household size was 2.53 persons, and the average family size was 3.02 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.5% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 25% from 25 to 44, 24.3% from 45 to 64, and 15.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.1 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 10286, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 75.01% White, 2.14% Black or African American, 16.34% American Indian, 0.34% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 6.12% from two or more races.
