Johnson County is a county located in Kentucky, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Johnson County is home to 23445 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 24056 in July 2008, giving it the 48th largest population among Kentucky's county. The county comprises an area of 263.94 mi˛ (683.6 square kilometre), of which, 261.54 square miles (677.39 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.4 square miles (6.22 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 80th largest by total area in Kentucky.

The population density was 89.6 people per square mile (34.59/km˛), giving it the 28th most densely populated county among the Kentucky. There were 10236 housing units at an average density of 39.1 per square mile (15.1/km˛). The average household size was 2.52 persons, and the average family size was 2.93 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 24% under the age of 18, 8.8% from 18 to 24, 28.9% from 25 to 44, 25.7% from 45 to 64, and 12.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 90.7 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 24056, The racial makeup of the county was 23639 White, 128 Black or African American, 32 American Indian, 78 Asian, 5 Native Hawaiian, and 174 from two or more races.
