Johnson County is one of the 105 county of Kansas, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 451086 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 534093 in July 2008, It is the largest county by population in the U.S. state of Kansas. The county comprises an area of 480.15 mi˛ (1243.58 square kilometre), of which, 476.78 square miles (1234.85 square kilometre) of it is land and 3.37 square miles (8.73 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the seventh smallest by area in the U.S. state of Kansas.

There were 181612 housing units at an average density of 380.9 per square mile (147.07/km˛). The average household size was 2.56 people, and the average family size was 3.09 people. In the county Population was distributed with 27.1% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 10% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 95.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 534093, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 479399 White, 23394 Black or African American, 2633 American Indian, 20444 Asian, 453 Native Hawaiian, and 7770 from two or more races.
