Johnson County is a county in the United States of Iowa. As of 2000 the population was 111006. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 128094, making it Iowa's fifth largest county. It has total area of 623.35 miē (1614.47 kmē), of which, 614.48 square miles (1591.5 kmē) of it is land and 8.87 square miles (22.97 kmē) of it is water, it is the 20th largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.

The population density was 180.7 people per square mile (69.77/kmē), making it the fifth most densely populated county in Iowa. There were 45831 housing units at an average density of 74.6 per square mile (28.8/kmē). The average household size was 2.34 persons, and the average family size was 2.97 persons. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 20.1% under the age of 18, 23.4% from 18 to 24, 30.8% from 25 to 44, 18.2% from 45 to 64, and 7.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.3 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 128094, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 114657 White, 5233 Black or African American, 405 American Indian, 5900 Asian, 57 Native Hawaiian, and 1842 from two or more races.
