Johnson County is a county located in Illinois, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 12878. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 13731, It is Illinois's 22nd least populous county. It covers total area of 348.88 mi˛ (903.6 square kilometre), of which, 344.63 square miles (892.59 square kilometre) of it is land and 4.25 square miles (11.01 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 19th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Illinois.

The population's age distribution was 18.3% under the age of 18, 11.4% from 18 to 24, 34% from 25 to 44, 22.7% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 149 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 160.2 males. Its population was estimated at 13731 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 83.05% White, 15.79% Black or African American, 0.26% American Indian, 0.13% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 0.73% from two or more races.
