Jim Thorpe Borough is a one of the Carbon County, Pennsylvania, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. The population of the borough was 4804 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 4863, It is the 289th most populous in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. The borough extends throughout a territory of 14.77 sq mi (38.25 kmē ), of which, 14.47 square miles (37.48 kmē) of it is land and 0.3 square miles (0.78 kmē) of it is water, makes it the 28th largest by total area in Pennsylvania.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4804 people in the borough, organized into 1967 households, and 1336 families residing in the borough. The population density was 332.1 people per square mile (128.22/kmē), giving it the 137th least densely populated borough among the Pennsylvania. There were 2193 housing units at an average density of 151.6 per square mile (58.53/kmē). The average household size was 2.42 persons, and the average family size was 2.93 persons. In the Jim Thorpe Borough, 21% of the population was under the age of 18, 8.2% were 18 to 24, 28.8% were 25 to 44, 24.9% were 45 to 64, and 17.1% who were 65 or older.
