According to the 2000 census it had a population of 11100 inhabitants. making it the 249th most populous in Florida. Its area is just over 8.13 miē (21.06 kmē), of which, 7.25 square miles (18.78 kmē) of it is land and 0.88 square miles (2.28 kmē) of it is water, it is the 225th largest by area in the U.S. state of Florida.
