Jennings County is a county located in the United States of Indiana. The population of the county was 27554 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 28040 in July 2008, It is the 55th most populous county in the U.S. state of Indiana. It covers total area of 378.35 miē (979.92 kmē), of which, 377.22 square miles (977 kmē) of it is land and 1.13 square miles (2.93 kmē) of it is water, it is the 60th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 27554 people in the county, organized into 10134 households, and 7604 families residing in the county. The population density was 73 people per square mile (28.19/kmē), giving it the 56th most densely populated county among the Indiana. There were 11469 housing units at an average density of 30.4 per square mile (11.74/kmē). The average household size was 2.67 and the average family size was 3.07. In the county Age distribution was 27.7% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 10.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 98.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.9 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 28040, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 27321 White, 299 Black or African American, 67 American Indian, 102 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 250 from two or more races.
