Jenks City, Oklahoma


Jenks City is a city located in Tulsa County, Oklahoma, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 9557 inhabitants. Its population was estimated at 15590 in July 2008, giving it the 42nd largest population among Oklahoma. The city extends throughout a territory of 14.89 sq mi (38.56 sq km ), of which, 14.34 square miles (37.14 sq km) of it is land and 0.55 square miles (1.42 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 70th largest by total area in Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 9557 residents, 3451 households, and 2756 families in the city. The population density was 666.2 people per square mile (257.22/kmē), giving it the 320th most densely populated city among the Oklahoma. There were 3592 housing units at an average density of 250.5 per square mile (96.72/kmē). The average household size was 2.74 people, and the average family size was 3.12 people. In the city the population was spread out, with 29.7% under the age of 18, 6.6% from 18 to 24, 31.5% from 25 to 44, 23% from 45 to 64, and 9.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 103.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 111.1 females. The median age was 35 years, the median age of male residents at 33.5 and the median age of female residents at 36.4. The racial makeup of the city was 87.39% White, 1.58% Black or African American, 4.74% American Indian, 0.81% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, 3.74% from two or more races and 1.73% Other races.
