Jenkins County is a United States county located in the United States of Georgia. It is home to over 8575 people (2000 census). As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 8547, It is Georgia's 22nd least populous county. The county spans an area of 352.45 sq mi (912.84 square kilometre), of which, 349.81 square miles (906 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.64 square miles (6.84 square kilometre) of it is water, making it Georgia's 78th largest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8575 residents, 3214 households, and 2270 families in the county. The population density was 24.5 people per square mile (9.46/kmē), making its Georgia's 27th least densely populated county. There were 3907 housing units at an average density of 11.2 per square mile (4.32/kmē). The average household size was 2.63 people, and the average family size was 3.16 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 28.5% under the age of 18, 9.2% from 18 to 24, 26.4% from 25 to 44, 22.3% from 45 to 64, and 13.6% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.7 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 8547, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 4912 White, 3519 Black or African American, 25 American Indian, 20 Asian, 7 Native Hawaiian, and 64 from two or more races.
