The July 2008 population estimate is 2957, It is the 182nd most populous in the U.S. state of Alabama. The town spans an area of 8.14 mi˛ (21.08 square kilometre), of which, 8.12 square miles (21.03 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.03 square miles (0.08 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 165th largest by total area in Alabama.
