Jeffersontown City is a city in the Jefferson County, Kentucky, United States. As of 2000 the population was 26633. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 26226, It is tenth most populous in Kentucky. The city has a total area of 9.96 mi˛ (25.8 square kilometre), of which, 9.95 square miles (25.77 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 29th largest by size in Kentucky.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 26633 people, 10653 households, and 7279 families residing in the city. The population density was 2675.9 people per square mile (1033.17/km˛), it is Kentucky's 100th most densely populated city. There were 11220 housing units at an average density of 1127.6 per square mile (435.37/km˛). The average household size was 2.46 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 24.8% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 33.4% from 25 to 44, 23.3% from 45 to 64, and 10.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 92.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.1 males. The median age is 35.7 years, The median age of males was 34.2 years, for females the median age was 37.1 years. The racial makeup of the city was 86.74% White, 8.65% Black or African American, 0.21% American Indian, 1.77% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, 1.46% from two or more races and 1.14% Other races.
