Jefferson County is a one of the county from West Virginia's 55 counties, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The population of the county was 42190 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 51615 in July 2008, making it West Virginia's 11th largest county. It has total area of 211.57 square miles (547.96 sq km), of which, 209.53 square miles (542.68 sq km) of it is land and 2.03 square miles (5.26 sq km) of it is water, making it the sixth smallest by size in West Virginia.

It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 51615, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 46729 White, 3543 Black or African American, 127 American Indian, 423 Asian, 21 Native Hawaiian, and 772 from two or more races.
