Jefferson County is one of the 39 county of Washington, located towards the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 25953 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 29542, It is the 27th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Washington. The county spans an area of 2183.52 mi˛ (5655.29 square kilometre), of which, 1814.23 square miles (4698.83 square kilometre) of it is land and 369.29 square miles (956.46 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 15th largest by area in the U.S. state of Washington. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in Washington.

As of the census of 2000, there were 25953 people in the county, organized into 11645 households, and 7578 families living in the county. The population density was 14.3 people per square mile (5.52/km˛), it is the tenth least populated county in terms of population density. There were 14144 housing units at an average density of 7.8 per square mile (3.01/km˛). The average household size was 2.21 and the average family size was 2.67. In the county Age distribution was 19.8% under the age of 18, 5% from 18 to 24, 21.6% from 25 to 44, 32.5% from 45 to 64, and 21.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 104.4 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 106 females. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 29542, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 27378 White, 282 Black or African American, 688 American Indian, 443 Asian, 40 Native Hawaiian, and 711 from two or more races.
