Jefferson County, Iowa is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. It is home to over 16181 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 15463, making it the 50th most populous county in Iowa. It covers total area of 436.72 sq mi (1131.1 square kilometre), of which, 435.34 square miles (1127.53 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.38 square miles (3.57 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 18th smallest by total area in Iowa.
