Jefferson County is a county located in the United States of Idaho. The county has a population of 19155 as per the 2000 census data. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 23860, making it the 13th most populous county in Idaho. Its area is just over 1105.55 square miles (2863.36 kmē), of which, 1095.08 square miles (2836.24 kmē) of it is land and 10.47 square miles (27.12 kmē) of it is water, making it Idaho's 28th largest county by total area.

The population density was 17.5 people per square mile (6.76/kmē), making its Idaho's 17th most densely populated county. There were 6287 housing units at an average density of 5.7 per square mile (2.2/kmē). The average household size was 3.23 and the average family size was 3.62. In the county the population was spread out, with 36.3% under the age of 18, 9.6% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 19.3% from 45 to 64, and 9.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 101 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 23860, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.12% White, 0.51% Black or African American, 0.9% American Indian, 0.33% Asian, 0.11% Native Hawaiian, and 1.03% from two or more races.
