Jefferson City is a city located in the Union County, South Dakota, United States. The city has a population of 586 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 599, It is the 127th largest by population in the U.S. state of South Dakota. The city extends throughout a territory of 0.29 square miles (0.75 square kilometre ), it is the 80th smallest by area in the U.S. state of South Dakota.
