Jefferson City is one of the city of Greene County, Iowa, located towards the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 4626. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 4144, It is 82nd most populous in Iowa. The city encompasses an area of 5.88 sq mi (15.23 sq km ), of which, 5.82 square miles (15.07 sq km) of it is land and 0.05 square miles (0.13 sq km) of it is water, it is the 57th largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa.
