Jefferson City City, Callaway and Cole counties, Missouri is a city located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. It is home to over 39636 people (2000 census). The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 40771, It is Missouri's 15th largest by population . The city spans an area of 28.27 miē (73.22 kmē), of which, 27.25 square miles (70.58 kmē) of it is land and 1.02 square miles (2.64 kmē) of it is water, making it the 13th largest by size in Missouri. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Missouri.
