Jay County is a county located in the United States of Indiana. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 21806 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 21412, It is the 24th smallest in terms of population. It has total area of 383.82 mi˛ (994.09 square kilometre), of which, 383.64 square miles (993.62 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 59th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana.

For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 108.1 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 21412, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98% White, 0.48% Black or African American, 0.21% American Indian, 0.64% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.64% from two or more races.
