Jasper County is a county in the United States of South Carolina. In 2000, county's population was 20678 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 22330, It is the eighth smallest county by population in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The county encompasses an area of 699.79 mi˛ (1812.45 sq km ), of which, 656.12 square miles (1699.34 sq km) of it is land and 43.67 square miles (113.1 sq km) of it is water, it is the 20th largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in South Carolina.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 20678 residents, 7042 households, and 5092 families in the county. The population density was 31.5 people per square mile (12.16/km˛), it is South Carolina's third least densely populated county. There were 7928 housing units at an average density of 12.1 per square mile (4.67/km˛). The average household size was 2.75 people, and the average family size was 3.22 people. In the county Age distribution was 26.8% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 30.7% from 25 to 44, 21.2% from 45 to 64, and 11% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 111 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 111.3 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 22330, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 49.7% White, 48.51% Black or African American, 0.44% American Indian, 0.72% Asian, 0.07% Native Hawaiian, and 0.56% from two or more races.
