Jal City is one of the city of Lea County, New Mexico, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The city has a population of 1996 as per the 2000 census data. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2045, It is the 75th largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 4.84 sq mi (12.54 square kilometre), it is the 105th largest by area in the U.S. state of New Mexico.

As of the census of 2000, there were 1996 people in the city, organized into 457 households, and 284 families living in the city. The population density was 412.8 people per square mile (159.38/kmē), making it the 112th most densely populated city in New Mexico.
