Jacksonville City is one of the city of Onslow County, North Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, city has a population of 66715 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 76233, It is the 11th largest by population in the U.S. state of North Carolina. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 45.16 sq mi (116.96 kmē), of which, 44.48 square miles (115.2 kmē) of it is land and 0.68 square miles (1.76 kmē) of it is water, making it North Carolina's tenth largest by total area.

The racial makeup of the city was 63.94% White, 23.96% Black or African American, 0.75% American Indian, 2.07% Asian, 0.19% Native Hawaiian, 3.67% from two or more races and 5.42% Other races.
