Jackson County is a county located in Tennessee, in the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. The population of county in 2000 stood at 10984 as per the Census data. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 10847, It is the tenth smallest in terms of population. It covers total area of 319.56 sq mi (827.66 square kilometre), of which, 308.88 square miles (800 square kilometre) of it is land and 10.67 square miles (27.64 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 24th smallest by area in the U.S. state of Tennessee.

It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 10847, The racial makeup of the county was 97.68% White, 1% Black or African American, 0.35% American Indian, 0.16% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.79% from two or more races.
