Jackson County is a county located in Oklahoma, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The population of the county was 28439 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 25236, giving it the 36th largest population among Oklahoma's county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 804.15 sq mi (2082.74 square kilometre), of which, 802.68 square miles (2078.93 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.47 square miles (3.81 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 40th largest by total area in Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 28439 people in the county, organized into 10590 households, and 7666 families living in the county. The population density was 35.4 people per square mile (13.67/kmē), it is the 31st most populated county in terms of population density. There were 12377 housing units at an average density of 15.4 per square mile (5.95/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.61 persons, and the average family size was 3.11 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 29.2% under the age of 18, 10.3% from 18 to 24, 29% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 11.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.8 males. Its population was estimated at 25236 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 21742 White, 2109 Black or African American, 550 American Indian, 354 Asian, 49 Native Hawaiian, and 432 from two or more races.
