In July 2008, its estimated population was 33270, It is the 18th smallest county by population in the U.S. state of Ohio. The county has a total area of 421.5 miē (1091.68 kmē), of which, 420.28 square miles (1088.52 kmē) of it is land and 1.22 square miles (3.16 kmē) of it is water, making it Ohio's 29th smallest county by total area.
